A McDonald’s worker in Louisiana has claimed that he was fired after tweeting a photo of the drip tray from the restaurant’s ice cream machine – but the chain insists it does not come into contact with food and is cleaned regularly.
The tray appears to be filthy, obviously painting the fast food chain in a rather negative light that health and safety officials would certainly not approve of.
“This came out of McDonald’s ice cream machine in case y’all were wondering…”, the employee who is identified as Nick on Twitter, wrote earlier this month.
“Nice and dirty…” he wrote, in a further post that featured equally horrifying shots of the restaurant’s floors which appeared to be covered in a kind of vomit-inducing goo.
Quick to respond, McDonald’s released a writing: “We are committed to running great restaurants that provide our customers with high quality food, service and a clean environment. This is a part of our soft serve equipment that does not come into contact with any food and is required to undergo regular and timely cleaning.”
Typically, the drip trays are supposed to be cleaned by restaurant managers. However, Nick insisted that he never saw anyone go near them.
“Sometimes my coworkers would drop the food and put it back on the bun,” he told , explaining that he’s “seen it happen several times.”
The story prompted a slew of fast-food restaurant bashing on social media, with one user tweeting a pictures from Wendy’s.
Nick went on to explain that he feels he has done nothing wrong, and only intended to expose what he claims is the truth behind what people are really eating when they visit that particular branch of McDonald’s.
Keen to get publicity for his revelations, the anarchic employee is actively trying to get the attention of US talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
